Why This Certificate Is Different
Most people who are drawn to this work already know something powerful: that food and lifestyle can transform health in ways that conventional medicine often can’t. They’ve seen it in their own bodies, or in someone they love. And they want to understand it more deeply and share it more effectively.
That’s exactly what this program is built for. Whether your goal is to build a coaching practice, support friends and family with greater confidence, step more fully into your professional work, or simply make sense of everything you’ve already been living, the Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate gives you the science, the skills, and the community to do it well.
But not all certifications are created equal. Most lean heavily in one direction. One might be strong on nutrition but thin on coaching, or one is built around a coaching framework with only surface-level nutrition content or none at all. Almost none of them bring together rigorous whole food nutrition science and the broader lifestyle picture coaches actually need. Food Revolution Network’s Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate (NLCC) is different, by design.
NLCC is 100% online, self-paced, and, unlike most programs, it’s backed by a full year of live, human-led support from world-class faculty. You can enroll the moment you’re ready and start learning immediately, with a full year of live support, faculty Q&A calls, coaching practice pods, and community connection. Learn on your schedule, without ever having to go it alone.
Graduates leave equipped to work with individual clients, run group coaching programs, partner with other healthcare professionals, and thrive in settings ranging from wellness centers and corporate wellness companies to schools, community organizations, and beyond. Many find that the transformation starts at home in their own health, their own relationships, and their own sense of purpose.

I have been impressed by the Food Revolution Network team for two main reasons. First, they are motivated by love and compassion, and that shines through in everything they do. Second, they are highly committed to evidence-based learning and scientific accuracy. In other words, this program was designed to help committed individuals become reliable, conscious agents of change.
When I was asked to serve as one of the guest faculty, I was deeply honored to have this opportunity to help educate our future leaders. The program is everything I imagined and more. It covers all bases, including every aspect of plant-based nutrition and lifestyle, high-end coaching skills, and the tools needed to succeed in a very competitive marketplace.
If you are passionate about helping individuals, families, and communities shift towards more healthful, kinder, and more sustainable choices, this course is exactly what you have been looking for.

A note on our program name:
This program was founded in 2023 as the Plant-Based Coaching Certificate (PBCC). In 2026, we evolved it into the Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate (NLCC).
Whole food, plant-based nutrition remains the heart and foundation of what we teach. What expanded is the scope, as we deepened our coverage of sleep, movement, stress, social connection, and the other lifestyle factors that research consistently links to long-term health. The result is a more complete program that better equips coaches to serve their clients across the full picture of what it means to live well.
All the curricula the graduates below experienced is included in NLCC, with expanded content added.

From Survival to Service: Coaching Others to Beat Heart Disease with Plant-Based Nutrition
Over the years that followed the death of my parents, my father from Alzheimer’s disease and my mother from cancer, I did a vast amount of research regarding health and nutrition, but found it to be overwhelming and confusing. I just hoped and prayed that I would find a way to condense this information into one tidy, practical package. And thankfully, along came Ocean Robbins with this amazing program and its equally amazing, highly qualified, professional instructors and facilitators.
Do not hesitate to take this course! You have no idea what a beautiful, powerful, and positive impact you could have in this world!

I am LIT up from the inside and ready to light a path forward for the collective well-being of the planet by sharing all this knowledge and wisdom I’ve had the privilege of receiving! 🙏 This program was filled with one expert teacher (and teaching) after another. No stone of learning or thread of support was left unattended or turned over. I am blown away by the love, intelligence, and diversity of the faculty, coaches, and support team. I am enlivened by the community at FRN and have found a home, and I feel connected in a profound way with my mission as a food activist.

Empowering Clients to Heal: Helping Clients Beat Type 2 Diabetes and Thrive
I learned ways to coach others to make progress toward their defined goals. Instead of telling others they shouldn’t eat this or that, I now ask them about their goals, and I listen more to help them define a variety of ways to meet those goals. The information I received is supported by solid research and provides practical information. I really appreciated the flexibility in being able to complete lessons on my own time.

Enhancing Patient Care: The Power of Coaching in Guiding Families to Health
What I’ve gained most from this is the power of our connection to one another. It’s not just about supporting each other through this journey, though that’s important. It’s about connecting our hearts, so we can go out and share that same kindness and compassion with others.
I’ve learned so much about how to treat people from my heart with kindness and compassion, and it’s been a game-changer for me. When I first started, I came on so strong, so passionate, wanting to push my message onto people. But I’ve realized through this process that there’s a more effective, kinder way to communicate. And I’m still learning, but I’m so grateful for this transformation.

From Fatigue to Freedom: Coaching That Starts in the Kitchen
What initially attracted me to this program was the love, compassion, and heart that’s woven into everything.
The skill and support from all the teachers are just so impressive, and I believe that’s what makes this program so important. I’m trying not to cry!
Over the past six months, these classes have been filled with so much heart and love. I’m a big follower of Thich Nhat Hanh, and one of the things he teaches is that if you treat someone as though they are the most loving, accomplished person in the world, they will rise to that. I’ve always believed that, but sometimes it’s challenging. These classes have helped me live that out more fully.

Engineer to Coach: Turning a Health Wake-Up Call into a Mission

The world needs you.
Despite astonishing advances in modern medicine, people are sicker than ever. Rates of heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune conditions, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, and other chronic diseases are spiraling out of control.
In the U.S. alone, we now spend more than $4 trillion a year on medical care, and up to 80% of that is spent on chronic conditions. Most of these diseases are largely preventable, and for many people, the trajectory can be meaningfully improved or reversed, through lifestyle change.
At the same time, interest in healthy eating is booming.
But many people are being led astray.
Fad and meat-heavy diets have recently surged in popularity. Some people truly feel better on them, often because they’re cutting out ultra-processed food in the process. But the long-term research on chronic disease prevention and longevity consistently supports a different pattern.
The science on this is actually quite clear.
A whole food, plant-forward diet is one of the most powerful tools we have for preventing disease and supporting a long, vibrant life. That’s what the most comprehensive, long-running research continues to show.
But food is only part of the picture. Quality sleep, regular movement, how we manage stress, and the depth of our human connections all shape whether we thrive or decline. These factors work together. And most people — even those who’ve made meaningful changes to how they eat — are navigating them without real guidance or support.
That’s the critical gap that skilled coaches fill.

More people than ever are motivated to make a change.
- They want to thrive, but they’re overwhelmed by conflicting opinions.
- They want to eat for a better world, but they don’t know what’s actually helpful, and what’s just a bunch of greenwashing.
- They want to make real change, but they lack the tools, confidence, or support to follow through.
A skilled nutrition & lifestyle coach can make all the difference.
People need guidance. They need community. They need someone they can trust to help them make lasting, meaningful change.
That’s where the right coach comes in. That’s where YOU come in.

The need for human connection is at an all time high.
Technology is changing everything. AI can now write essays, analyze lab results, and generate meal plans in seconds. But it still can’t do what you (a real human being) can do.
It can’t look someone in the eyes (even virtually) and truly see them.
It can’t feel their struggles or celebrate their wins.
It can’t hold them accountable with genuine empathy, curiosity, and compassion.
And it can’t offer the emotional presence and nuanced support that creates real, lasting transformation.
Learning how to eat better is one thing.
Staying on track when life gets messy is another.
That’s why coaching and real human-to-human coaching are so powerful.
We live in a world where people are overwhelmed by information and starving for connection.
If you can help someone feel seen, supported, and capable of real change, you’ll be giving them a gift no app or AI can replace.
That said, we believe AI can be a powerful ally when used wisely. In this program, we’ll introduce tools and strategies to help you integrate AI into your marketing and practice in ethical, effective ways. You’ll learn how to leverage technology to extend your reach, while doubling down on the real magic of coaching: human presence.
You’ll be building a future where health, compassion, and wisdom still have a human face.
Introducing
The World’s Most Comprehensive Coaching Certificate that Combines Nutrition & Lifestyle Science, Coaching, and Impact
Step into your power as an agent for change, and help people live longer, happier, and healthier lives.

Nutrition & Lifestyle Science: Evidence-Based, Inclusive, and Practical
Unlike many other certifications, we build a comprehensive foundation in both whole food, plant-based (WFPB) nutrition and the lifestyle habits that shape long-term health. Our curriculum goes beyond the basics, weaving in the science of sleep, stress, movement, and social connection alongside chronic disease prevention and practical kitchen skills. Through our inclusive “big tent” approach, we celebrate progress over perfection and teach coaches to meet people where they are, honoring every step toward better health.
Why do we focus on WFPB Nutrition?
The Science Is Clear. We Teach Accordingly.
Most health coaching programs sidestep the question of which dietary approach actually works best. They stay deliberately vague, covering a range of eating patterns without taking a stand.
We don’t.
Food Revolution Network’s Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate is built around whole food, plant-based (WFPB) nutrition, because that is where the evidence points most clearly and consistently.
What does the research show?
Decades of peer-reviewed science link a whole food, plant-based diet to dramatic reductions in heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, obesity, and other leading causes of chronic illness. It is the dietary pattern most aligned with the Blue Zones, the world’s longest-living populations. It is the approach endorsed by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and increasingly reflected in the dietary guidelines of forward-thinking countries, including Canada, the Nordic nations, Germany, Mexico, and others that explicitly prioritize plant sources of protein over animal sources.
In fact, the most current evidence-based dietary frameworks, including the Plantrician Project’s whole food plant-based food pyramid, reflect a growing consensus that moving toward whole, minimally processed plant foods is among the most powerful steps a person can take for their own health and for their health.
The environmental case is equally compelling. A whole food, plant-based dietary pattern produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions, requires less land and water, and places far less pressure on ecosystems than diets centered on animal products. Choosing a plant-forward diet is one of the most meaningful individual contributions a person can make to a sustainable future.
WFPB and vegan are not the same thing.
This is a distinction we take seriously, and it shapes how we teach.
Veganism is an ethical philosophy rooted in compassion. It addresses how people treat animals across all areas of life, including food, clothing, and consumer choices. Someone can be vegan and live on processed foods, chips, and refined carbohydrates. That is not what we teach.
Whole food, plant-based is a nutritional framework. It centers on vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, and it minimizes ultra-processed foods, added oils, and animal products. It is grounded in health science, not ideology.
At NLCC, we teach WFPB nutrition because the evidence supports it most strongly. And we do so with an inclusive, non-dogmatic approach, because we know that change happens on a spectrum. Some clients will move toward 100% plant-based eating. Others will significantly increase their plant intake while continuing to eat some animal products, or the occasional donut. Both represent meaningful progress, and both deserve skilled, knowledgeable support.
We celebrate every step toward more plants. We just make sure you know exactly what the evidence says, so you can help your clients make the most informed choices possible.

Coaching: Structure, Skill, and Heart
Our certificate combines a solid evidence-based coaching framework with a unique approach to personal transformation. You’ll build core coaching competencies and learn how to create a safe, empowering container for growth, while adding Food Revolution Network’s signature of compassion, active listening, and values-driven communication. The result? A coaching style that fosters real breakthroughs and lasting change.
Why does coaching have its own pillar?
Most certification programs treat coaching as secondary to content. You get a framework, a few scripts, and maybe a worksheet or two. Then you are expected to show up and somehow hold space for a struggling client in their most vulnerable moments.
That is not preparation, it’s a setup for self-doubt.
We built Pillar 2 differently, because confidence in coaching doesn’t come from memorizing techniques. It comes from deeply understanding why those techniques work, and practicing them in a supported environment before you ever sit across from a real client.
A Training Standard Rooted in the Best of the Field
Our coaching curriculum aligns with the competency framework recognized by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), the leading credentialing body in the field. But we didn’t stop there.
We drew on approaches from positive psychology, strengths-based coaching, and the traditions of executive and leadership coaching, because the best health coaches do not just help clients change what they eat. They help clients change how they see themselves, what they believe is possible, and how they navigate the inevitable friction of real life.
The result is a coaching education that goes well beyond scope of practice and session structure. You will learn the neuroscience of behavior change. You will learn how to listen at a level most people never experience. You will learn how to ask the kind of question that stops someone in their tracks and opens a door they did not know was there.
You Will Not Just Learn Coaching. You Will Practice It.
From the very beginning of the program you are coaching. Live Practice Pods give you the chance to work with fellow students in a structured, faculty-supported environment, so you can build your skills in real time, get feedback, and course-correct before it counts.
By the time you graduate, you will not be wondering whether you can do this work. You will have done it, repeatedly, with guidance, and with growing confidence in your own style and voice.
What Makes a Coach Truly Effective
Technical knowledge matters. But the coaches who create lasting transformation for their clients share something beyond knowledge. They know how to be present. They know how to hold a client’s agenda without projecting their own. They know how to stay curious when a client is stuck, how to challenge without breaking trust, and how to recognize the moment when everything shifts.

Impact: Purpose-Driven and Results-Oriented
More than a credential, the Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate is a launchpad for people determined to make a difference. As part of Food Revolution Network, the global leader in the food revolution movement, you’ll gain access to real-world strategies and the ongoing support of faculty and like-hearted peers who share your values. Whether you want to launch your own coaching practice, step into a healthcare or wellness setting, or create change through community organizing — upgrading school lunches, starting a healthy eating group, influencing how your workplace or community approaches health — there’s a dedicated collection built for your specific path. You’ll leave with a practical toolkit, not just a certificate.
What does “Impact” mean in this certificate?
Some coaching programs include a business module. Few actually prepare you to work.
A couple of lessons on social media and a template or two. That is what “business training” looks like in most certificate programs. It checks a box without changing much.
We built Pillar 3 differently, because we know that great coaching skills mean nothing if you cannot get in front of the people who need you.
Three Paths Built for the Way Coaches Actually Enter the Field.
Here is the truth most programs ignore: not every coach wants to launch a private practice. Some want to work within healthcare systems, wellness centers, or corporate environments. Others are driven less by business building and more by community impact, policy change, and grassroots food and health education.
Most certifications hand everyone the same generic business module and call it done. We built three dedicated collections, one for each of the real ways coaches enter this field, because your path into this work is not one-size-fits-all, and your training should not be either.
The Entrepreneur Collection is for coaches who want to build their own practice, attract ideal clients, and grow a sustainable business aligned with their values.
The Employment Collection is for coaches who want to step into an existing role within a healthcare setting, wellness organization, or corporate environment, and know exactly how to position themselves to get there.
The Changemaker Collection is for coaches whose vision extends beyond individual clients into schools, community gardens, local policy, and the kind of grassroots organizing that changes how doctors, nonprofits, churches, and public health campaigns serve their communities.
We also built a practical business-in-a-box toolkit with concrete resources to help you get up and running, not just understand the theory. Because the goal is not just for you to graduate. It is for you to actually step into the field.
This Is For You If You Are…

Passionate about the power of whole food nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits
and are ready to help people heal their lives

An aspiring leader
who wants to take the food revolution to your communities and to create meaningful change

Looking to expand or grow your practice
with credentials and skillsets that will help you better serve your clients

Someone whose health journey has opened your eyes to what’s possible
and want the knowledge and confidence to understand your transformation more deeply and share it meaningfully

Imagine…
Trusting your ability to do more than educate the people you serve, but to actually help them make changes that last.
Hearing from someone whose life changed because of your support, and knowing you made that possible.
Experiencing your own health transformation as you put your training to use in your own life.
Helping end intergenerational patterns of poor health for the people you love.
And, if you choose, earning a living by building income from the work of helping people get well.

Together, We Can Create…
More people who know how to eat and live for long, vibrant lives. More coaches equipped to turn that knowledge into lasting change. More communities where health is the norm, not a privilege. And a planet that benefits every time someone chooses food grown with care over food engineered for profit.
That’s the revolution. Will you join us?
The first transformation is your own.
Whether you’re already eating a whole foods, plant-forward diet, exercising like a champ, and sleeping like a baby… Or simply want to bring more whole, nourishing food and healthier lifestyle habits into your life… This program gives you a world-class education in the foundation that most benefits your own health and well-being.
You’ll learn all about the dietary and lifestyle patterns followed by the world’s longest-living people so you can incorporate the healthiest choices into your own life, and reap the rewards of more energy, greater joy and vitality, disease prevention, and longevity. Many graduates describe this as the most meaningful part of their experience where they finally have the scientific grounding to understand why the changes they’ve already made worked. You stop saying “I think this is true” and start saying “here’s what the research shows.”
You’ll learn a lot about food (a lot!). And you’ll go deeper to also explore the science of sleep, movement, stress, and social connection, which are the lifestyle factors that research consistently links to how long we live, how well we age, and how good we feel day to day.
Gain cutting-edge insights into the science of behavior change.
Why do we do what we do? How can we change our habits for lasting results? What you discover during your Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate will change your life in profound ways. And it gives you critical skills to help others experience real transformations that last.
Find your people.
One thing graduates describe again and again, often with surprise, is the community. Not just a forum. A living network of coaches, health professionals, educators, and fellow learners who share your values on food, health, and what it means to actually help someone change. People who don’t need you to explain why you eat the way you eat. People who already get it. For many students, finding that community is the thing they didn’t know they were looking for.

Most self-paced programs offer a course and a community forum. We offer that, AND a robust schedule of live, human-led sessions throughout the year. You can get your questions answered, deepen your understanding, and stay connected to your peers and to the material, long after you first encounter it.
All live sessions are recorded and available anytime, so you never have to choose between your life and your education.

You’ll have access to the training material even after you graduate, so that you can return to it anytime.
Pillar 1:
Nutrition & Lifestyle Science
Approximately 30+ hours to complete
Pillar 1 gives you a thorough, science-backed foundation in how food and lifestyle work together to shape long-term health.
This isn’t a surface overview. Six modules of up-to-date, comprehensive content give you a complete picture of how what we eat, how we move, how we sleep, and how we manage stress all affect our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Thirty- two different lessons cover everything from hormonal balance to how to eat to beat cancer, heart disease, memory issues, and much more.
Here’s just a taste of what you’ll discover in Pillar 1:
- The surprising cause of most chronic GI problems. Plus, the easy fix that prevents constipation, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, and even IBS.
- When digestion actually starts. (Hint: it’s before you even take a single bite of food!) Plus, 32 parts of the digestive system most people overlook.
- Why your gut is sometimes called a ’second brain,’ and what the science says about its role in mood and emotional well-being.
- Your stomach is the main site of digestion, right? Wrong! What every health coach needs to know about nutrient absorption and malnutrition.
- The common misdiagnosis that triggers acid reflux. (Warning: Taking antacids just makes this worse!)
- How to tame the “grow now” hormone that fertilizes tumors, plaque, and fat.
- “Shoelace tip” chromosomes determine how long you live. Discover how to use meditation to lengthen them and your life!
- Why lab numbers might distract you from the real work of coaching and what to focus on instead.
- The emotional pattern most strongly associated with elevated heart attack risk, and what to watch for in your own life or a clients’ life.
- The lifestyle factors most strongly linked to breast cancer prevention and recurrence risk, and what the research actually shows.

Health is shaped by far more than what’s on your plate. This module explores the lifestyle factors that research consistently links to longevity, disease prevention, and daily well-being—and gives you the knowledge and tools to help clients address them with the same rigor and confidence you bring to nutrition.
You’ll learn how to guide clients through evidence-based approaches to movement, sleep, and stress. You’ll explore the science of social connection and why loneliness has measurable effects on physical health that rival smoking and poor diet. You’ll also learn how to recognize and appropriately support clients navigating addictive behaviors, including alcohol and tobacco use, without stepping outside your scope of practice.
A skilled coach knows that a person’s health is only as strong as its weakest link. Sometimes that’s food. Often it’s sleep, or stress, or isolation. This module gives you the tools to help clients find their point of greatest leverage for improved health, and make meaningful, sometimes dramatic, improvements by addressing it effectively.

Pillar 2:
Coaching
Approximately 23+ hours to complete
Pillar 2 supports you with 6 different modules on how to become an expert coach.
From theories of behavior change to how to set up group coaching sessions, you’ll have everything you need to successfully step into your power as a health coach.
Twenty-eight lessons show you how to successfully guide clients through a nutrition and lifestyle health transformation.
In Pillar 2, you’ll discover:
- The simple-to-follow 90% rule that instantly boosts your coaching success. Do this, and your clients will instantly feel more comfortable opening up to you.
- How to spot the “sliding door” moment that’ll determine if a client sticks to healthy habits or slips back into old routines. (Plus the clever coaching question that spares them a setback.)
- The underrated coaching skill that protects you from burnout and helps ensure your client meets their goals. (All top coaches do this!)
- The number one thing successful coaches address with clients. Without this step, no food plan will work.
- A common question that instantly shuts down your client’s trust. Plus, what to do instead so you deepen the bond with them.
- The subtle linguistic tweak that turns “you” statements into emotional landmines and how to flip it to boost connection.
- Three layers of active listening. Master them all to go beyond just “hearing” what your client says.

Pillar 3:
Impact
Not required for certificate. Approximately 13+ hours to complete (more for implementation).
Most coaching programs include a business module. Few actually prepare you to work.
A couple of lessons on social media and a template or two. That is what “business training” looks like in most certification programs. It checks a box without changing much.
We built Pillar 3 differently because we know that great coaching skills mean nothing if you cannot get in front of the people who need you.
Pillar 3 is organized around the three real ways coaches actually enter the field: as entrepreneurs building their own practice, as professionals stepping into healthcare or wellness settings, and as community-driven changemakers creating impact at the grassroots level. Whichever path fits your vision, there is a dedicated collection built for you.
We also built a practical “business-in-a-box” toolkit with concrete resources to help you get up and running, not just understand the theory. Because the goal is not just for you to graduate, it is for you to actually step into the field.
In Pillar 3, you’ll discover:
For building your own practice:
- The dead-simple way to land your first clients, without a website, social media presence, or email list.
- The “magic wand” exercise that gets prospective clients to sell themselves on working with you.
- Why casting a wide net can sink a coaching business, and the subtle twist that flips specificity into scalability.
- Most coaches forget one line at the end of their content. It costs them clients. (No, it’s not “Thank you.”)
- How one sentence, said in your client’s exact words, can make your emails, web copy, and sales conversations dramatically more effective.
For stepping into a healthcare or wellness role:
- The single most overlooked career strategy in the wellness world, and the one question that fast-tracks your path to a job you love.
- One resume style that gets filtered out before HR ever sees it. Most coaches make this mistake.
- How to use real-life projects—volunteering, supporting family, community work—to build a portfolio that lands interviews.
For creating change in your community:
- Why “showing up with soup” builds more trust than 100 clinical studies. Plus, how cooking classes and demonstrations attract collaborators and create lasting impact.
- The number one way to get people to eat more plants—and it isn’t a diet, a doctor, or a food pyramid. It works even with skeptics and lifelong meat lovers.
- The secret to national health reform might be a potluck. How small local gatherings are reaching people that hospitals, public health campaigns, and major nonprofits can’t.

Live Faculty Calls and Practice Pods
Not required for certificate, but strongly recommended. Approximately 54 hours to complete.
Beyond the lessons, the real learning begins.
From your enrollment date, you have one full year of access to a rich schedule of live calls with our lead faculty. You’ll get 36 real opportunities together with the same doctors, dietitians, and coaching experts who teach the core curriculum. These are not webinars or guest presentations. They are dedicated sessions where you bring your questions, your curiosities, and your real-world challenges, and get thoughtful answers from the people who know this material most deeply.
Some calls go deeper into the nutrition and lifestyle science by unpacking the research, exploring nuance, and helping you understand how to apply what you are learning in your own life and with the people you serve. Others focus on coaching scenarios, including how to navigate difficult conversations, support clients through setbacks, and grow your confidence as a practitioner.
These calls are not required for certification, and nothing covered in them appears directly on the exams. They exist because the best learning happens in conversation. The questions students bring make every call richer, and the insights that emerge are often the ones that stick longest.
All calls are recorded and transcripts are provided, so you never have to choose between attending live and fitting the program around your life.
Practice Pods take things a step further. In these small-group breakout sessions, you will practice the skills and tools from the coaching curriculum in real time with fellow students and lead faculty present to support you. This is where the techniques you have studied become instincts you can trust.

How does NLCC’s price compare to other coaching certificate programs?
There are no other programs available that deliver in-depth nutrition with a whole foods, plant-based orientation, and also fold in lifestyle wellness, coaching skills, and business tools the way NLCC does.
In fact, NLCC delivers more content, more faculty, and more live, human-led training hours than most programs at any price point, at a tuition designed to be accessible without cutting corners on what actually makes a difference.
And if you want to go all the way to full NBHWC board certification, our partner pathway through Lifestyle Prescriptions University makes that possible too. The combined cost of NLCC plus the accelerated board certification pathway comes in at under $6,000. making the complete journey more affordable than most leading programs charge for a single certificate, and significantly more comprehensive.
More Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from other health coaching offerings?
Most health coaching certifications lean heavily in one direction. Programs with strong nutrition and lifestyle content tend to treat coaching as an afterthought. Programs built around coaching frameworks often cover nutrition at a surface level, and almost none of them center on a whole food, plant-based approach backed by serious science.
NLCC brings balance, by design.
In the nutrition & lifestyle pillar, you get up-to-date, evidence-based content taught by leading doctors, dietitians, and researchers. It’s a thorough and specific education in how our life choices impact chronic disease, mental health, longevity, and more.
In the coaching pillar, you get a structured, best-practice framework taught by true leaders in the field of behavioral science and health coaching, covering everything from the neuroscience of habit change to how to handle a client in crisis, to building a six-month individual or group program from scratch.
Add to that a full third pillar dedicated to real-world career entry, for entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and community changemakers, and you have a program that does not just educate you. It prepares you to work.
There is no other certification in the world that combines world-class plant-based nutrition and lifestyle science, evidence-based coaching, and a practical, multi-track pathway to actually doing this work in the world.
What is the class format?
This program delivers a hybrid learning experience through a blend of pre-recorded lessons and live training, including Q&A calls and Practice Pods. You’ll also receive rebrandable handouts and multiple resources for deeper learning, access to our community forum, and a full year of unlimited access to our prescheduled live faculty calls calendar from your enrollment date.
How much time do I have to complete the lessons?
Once you complete the orientation module, you can move through all pre-recorded lessons at your own pace. Certification is awarded upon passing the qualifying exams. You’ll also have one full year of access to our live faculty calls from your enrollment date, regardless of where you are in the course material. Attendance is not required, and all calls are recorded and available for you to revisit at any time. These calls are not additional lessons; they are dedicated sessions to discuss what you’re learning, deepen your understanding, and explore real-world applications with faculty.
What can I do once I’m certified?
That’s up to you, and the range is wider than you might expect.
Many graduates find that the most immediate impact is personal. You’ll finish this program understanding, with real scientific grounding, why changes you may have already made in your own health, worked. That confidence changes how you move through the world. It changes the conversations you have with your doctor, your family, and your friends.
From there, many graduates naturally become the person their community turns to. They support friends and loved ones through health challenges. They start healthy eating groups, volunteer at schools, set up community gardens, or bring plant-forward cooking into their workplaces and faith communities. The credential gives them the credibility to do that with confidence.
For those who want to go further professionally, the options are broad. Graduates work with individual clients, run group coaching programs, partner with healthcare providers, and step into roles at wellness centers, corporate wellness companies, integrative health practices, and beyond. If you want to build a membership program, launch an online business, or grow a practice through podcasts, social media, or blogging, you’ll have resources and pathways to do that too.
Whatever direction feels right, this program gives you a solid foundation to create meaningful change in any setting you choose, often starting right at home.
Is AI going to render coaching obsolete?
AI is transforming many industries, including health and wellness. And it’s true that AI tools can now offer dietary suggestions, generate marketing content, and even simulate basic coaching conversations.
But here’s the thing: People don’t just need information. They need empathy, connection, accountability, and someone who really gets them.
Real, inside-out change is unlikely to come from a chat with a bot. Something special happens when people feel seen, supported, and believed in by another human being. A great coach knows how to listen deeply, hold space, respond with emotional intelligence, and guide lasting transformation. That’s something no AI will be able to offer any time soon.
That said, we believe AI can be a powerful ally when used wisely. In this program, we’ll introduce tools and strategies to help you integrate AI into your marketing and practice in ethical, effective ways. You’ll learn how to leverage technology to extend your reach while doubling down on the real magic of coaching: human presence.
Coaches who embrace the future (without losing their humanity) will be the most impactful of all.
Who is this coaching certificate for?
This program is for anyone who wants to understand the science of food and lifestyle deeply enough to use it for themselves, for the people they love, or in the work they do in the world.
You might be someone whose own health journey has changed what you believe is possible, and you want to understand it more fully and share it more confidently. You might be approaching a new chapter in life and looking for meaningful work that aligns with your values. You might be a caregiver, a teacher, a community organizer, or simply the person your friends and family call when they have a health question.
You might also be a health or wellness professional—a nurse, dietitian, therapist, health coach, physician, or other practitioner—who wants to add rigorous plant-based nutrition. lifestyle wellness, and coaching expertise to what you already offer.
Whatever brought you here, no prior degrees or certifications are required. What matters is a genuine desire to learn and a commitment to using what you discover.
What kind of certificate is it? Who is the certifying organization?
The certificate is issued by Food Revolution Network, a world-leading authority in whole food, plant-based education. Upon completing the course in good standing and passing the qualifying exams, you will be a Food Revolution Network Certified Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach.
You can add the official seal and certificate to your website, professional bio, resume, and LinkedIn profile. While this is not an academic certificate and carries no legal or licensing requirement, the credential carries the weight of one of the most trusted and recognized brands in plant-based health education, and you can apply what you learn anywhere in the world as a health coach specializing in whole food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle health.
Will this course qualify for continuing education credits/units (CEs/CEUs/CPEUs)?
Yes! The Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching Certificate Program (NLCC) offers a variety of continuing education credits at no additional cost to the following graduates:
- For National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC): NLCC graduates receive 24 CE/CPD credits from NBHWC via our partnership with Lifestyle Prescriptions® University.
- For UK-Based and International Professionals: NLCC graduates receive 24 CE/CPD credits from the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Standards Office.
Would NLCC qualify me to take the board exam through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching?
NLCC is not an NBHWC-accredited training program, and that is by design.
While we considered pursuing accreditation, we found it would have required us to narrow the curriculum, reduce flexibility, and impose mandatory live training hours that don’t work for everyone. Instead, we built NLCC to be comprehensive, accessible, and adaptable. It covers nutrition, business development, and real-world impact in a way that a strictly accredited program could not.
For graduates who want to continue building credentials, we have partnered with Lifestyle Prescriptions University (LPU) to offer a clear and affordable pathway forward. As a NLCC graduate, you receive a 25% tuition discount and NLCC alumni credits toward any of the following:
- NBHWC Board Certification — Complete LPU’s NBHWC-approved Lifestyle Medicine WORKS Coaching Certification in as little as three months and qualify to sit for the national board exam. Graduates earn two credentials: the LPHC (Lifestyle Prescriptions Health Coach) and, after passing the exam, the NBC-HWC (National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach).
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching — NLCC alumni receive 40 ECTS credits toward LPU’s Master’s or PhD program in Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching, giving you a meaningful head start toward an advanced degree.
Whether your goal is board certification, a graduate degree, or simply becoming the most well-rounded practitioner you can be, NLCC gives you a strong foundation and a clear path forward.
Do I need to eat a strict plant-based diet or require that my clients eat 100% plant-based foods?
No. This certificate is open to all who are interested in promoting the many benefits of a plant-based diet. That could mean simply increasing the amount of plant-based whole foods and decreasing the amount of animal products, or it could mean adopting a 100% plant-based lifestyle. While the focus of the certificate espouses whole, plant-based food, we appreciate that there is a spectrum and welcome a diversity of eaters.
When are the live trainings?
Live training calls are generally held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with most sessions scheduled between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm PT / 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm ET / 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm GMT. All calls are pre-scheduled and announced in advance on an annual calendar, so you can plan ahead.
From your enrollment date, you’ll have one full year of access to the live faculty call calendar regardless of where you are in the course material. Attendance is not required, and all calls are recorded and available to revisit at any time. These are not additional lessons; they are dedicated sessions to discuss what you are learning, deepen your understanding, and explore real-world applications with faculty. Questions may also be submitted to faculty in advance through our community forum.
How many hours a week will I need to dedicate?
The program is designed to be flexible, so the time you dedicate each week is largely up to you. You may find you need less time if you focus on select pillars, or more if you want to go deeper into the material, build out your business, or explore additional resources as you go. Because you can move at your own pace, the program works whether you only have a couple of focused hours each week or prefer a more immersive approach. For example, if you dedicate about four hours a week, you can expect to complete the course materials in as little as six months and still have access to live faculty calls for the full year of ongoing mentorship and support from your enrollment date. You will also have ongoing access to the community forum, continuously moderated by lead faculty, for the lifetime of the program. It is this level of support that truly sets us apart.
Will I start a business and make money?
That depends on what you want to do, and the program is built to support a wide range of paths. The Impact Pillar includes several collections you can choose from based on your goals:
- The Entrepreneur Collection covers marketing, business building, and attracting ideal clients for those who want to launch or grow a coaching practice.
- The Employment Collection focuses on standing out in the job market, positioning your skills, resume building, and exploring job opportunities.
- The Changemaker Collection offers tools and strategies for mission-driven passion projects that create real change in your community or beyond.
While we cannot guarantee any specific financial outcome since results depend on how you apply what you learn, the Impact Pillar delivers substantial value and actionable steps you can put to work right away. Any single idea you take from it could be worth far more than the cost of the program.
Is this medical advice, or a replacement for working with a doctor?
No. NLCC trains coaches to support clients in building sustainable nutrition and lifestyle habits, not to diagnose, treat, or replace medical care. Coaches are trained to recognize when a client’s needs fall outside their scope of practice and to refer out appropriately. This distinction is covered in depth in Pillar 2.
What is the refund policy?
Please make sure our refund policy is clear to you, and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns at [email protected].
- You may cancel 30 days from your enrollment date for a full refund.
- After 30 days, the entirety of your tuition is non-refundable, and you will maintain full access to all program materials, bonus content, and live calls for up to one year from your date of purchase.
Where can I get other questions answered?
Email us with any questions, and we’ll get back to you shortly.
